The Kelsey Theatre Awards are presented by K2KEntertainment and The Kelsey Theatre Advisory Board. They both have jointly administered the Kelsey Awards since 2011, the year of the first live Kelsey Award ceremony. The awards, however, have been handed out since 2009.
What sets this event apart from any other theater community theater award events is the fact that the general public (you) choose the winners in each category, including Outstanding Production of a Musical. Throughout the summer, the general public will vote for their favorite production and/or performers from the previous season. To learn more about the voting process and the award rules, CLICK HERE.
ABOUT THE LIVE CEREMONY
After the voting has been completed, K2KEntertainment and The Kelsey Theatre Advisory Board will present a fun, memorable live ceremony that not only awards the winners of each category, but also offers a night full of the best theatrical entertainment Kelsey Theatre has to offer.
In addition to awarding productions and performers in each category, the live ceremony features special live performances by the previous season's best productions and performers. In 2014, the Kelsey Awards reunited the casts of Les Miserables, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Big River, Monty Python's Spamalot, and Shrek the Musical. In previous years, the ceremony also reunited casts from pre-2014 productions, including the 2009 cast of Jekyll & Hyde, the 2007 cast of Once on This Island, the 2009 cast of The Wiz, the 2011 cast of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and the 2011 cast of 13: The Musical
In addition to these fun performances, the live ceremony also features hilarious cameos and performances by some of Kelsey Theatre's best performers, directors, producers, and production staff members. These special cameos feature Kelsey faces jestering about why we love Kelsey Theatre so much.
If you are a Kelsey Theatre fan, The Kelsey Theatre Awards are definitely an event that you do not want to miss! With very affordable tickets, hilarious skits and musical numbers, special cameos, and memorable performances from your favorite Broadway shows, you definitely do not want to miss out!
